Forfar Athletic v East Fife – 20.04.24
[Tuesday, 16 April 2024 17:24]
Forfar Athletic head into the final three weeks of the season still potentially needing one victory and the subsequent three point reward that would bring to ensure that they will not be dragged into the dreaded end of season pyramid play-off scenario.
Two home games are on the immediate horizon, the first of those this coming Saturday when East Fife are the visitors to the Alpha Projects @ Station Park Stadium.
The ‘Loons’ go into the fixture on the back of a third successive defeat on Saturday past when although they had an equal share of possession and goal scoring opportunities in the first period at the Balmoor Stadium, the home side just edged the second period to secure a 2-1 success.
Thankfully although Bonnyrigg Rose of the bottom five clubs eased to a surprisingly comfortable away win against East Fife on Saturday at the weekend, neither Clyde or Stranraer managed to record a victory, meaning little change at undoubtedly the wrong end of the league table as far as all are concerned.
That defeat for the Fifers was their first since way back on February 3rd, so to say the least they have been on an impressive run of form.
For the second Saturday running the top five clubs in the cinch league2 table are in direct opposition to the five clubs below, on this occasion the quintet of teams in the bottom half having home advantage.
It could certainly be an afternoon that will have a big say as regards the final placings come May 4th, so hopefully despite the recent poor run of five games without a win, the Athies fans will turnout as they have done especially in the second half of the campaign to give their backing, a factor that has been so appreciated.
Saturday’s contest has the usual 3p.m. kick-off.
