More good news for ‘Loons’ supporters today with the news that Mark Whatley has agreed to extend his stay with the club in a new role where the emphasis will still be on the playing side, but he will also join the backroom staff at Station Park in a coaching capacity.
Mark who lives locally joined the Athies twelve months back after a two year spell at Montrose this after he had spent seven years at Gayfield where he was also club captain.
He subsequently went on to make thirty three starting appearances in the season just ended as well as a further four from the bench.
Manager Ray McKinnon is naturally delighted that Mark has decided to commit his immediate playing future to the club and also accept the coaching role.
Ray is quick to assure fans that Mark’s main role will still be as a player but especially on training nights he will work alongside and assist Ray and the current coaching staff.
The manager commented that ‘Mark is the ultimate professional, setting and expecting high standards of others both on and off the park, indeed a role model for the modern player’ and he is sure he will continue to impart this attitude and commitment to those around him at Station Park in the season ahead.
Great news indeed as for the Forfar fans and like all concerned with the club would echo their best wishes to Mark in his new post.
