NEW COMMERCIAL DIRECTOR AT FORFAR ATHLETIC
[Wednesday, 03 July 2024 18:31]
The Forfar Athletic Board of Directors are delighted to announce the appointment of Alan Shepherd as our new Commercial Director.
Alan, who is already a Director and our Club Secretary, has agreed to take on this enhanced role with the Club following his recent retirement from his career in retail banking.
A well known face around the Club, Alan has been involved with Forfar Athletic for more years than he cares to remember. Alan was involved behind the scenes at Station Park before accepting the role of Director in 2011, which in fact makes him our current longest serving Director. He then succeeded David McGregor as Club Secretary in 2021, a role which he will continue in.
This new role at the Club will see Alan develop and maintain existing relationships with businesses and individuals, and also nurture new opportunities for investment and sponsorship with Forfar Athletic.
“I am looking to be the ‘face about the place’, getting to know existing connections and meeting new ones.”, said Alan. “I think that it is very important that people know who they can contact at the Club and I am certainly happy to meet and visit anyone who would like information about Forfar Athletic. I am also very keen to bring the Community Trust partners closer together and to work with them to raise awareness of the work done by them”.
Forfar Athletic Vice Chairman, Paul Stephen, stated “The Board are delighted that Alan has agreed to take on this role within the Club, which will allow us to more actively engage with local businesses and also to expand our commercial activities further afield. We are confident that Alan can develop the Club’s income streams in this area, which we hope will assist in allowing us to provide the manager with the required budget and resources with a view to challenging for promotion from League 2. There is undoubtedly no-one better qualified than Alan to take on this role, having been a supporter of The Loons for many years, a Director for 14 years and having been “at the coal face” many years ago as one of the pioneers of our much-envied and much sought-after match-day hospitality.”
If anyone is interested in sponsoring or investing in Forfar Athletic, taking an advertising board at Station Park, or simply wishes further information about any opportunities that may be available to become involved with the Club, they should feel free to contact Alan at This email address is being protected from spambots. We wish Alan all the very best for his new role as Commercial Director of Forfar Athletic.
