PREVIEW
The ‘Loons’ welcome Elgin City to the Alpha Projects Stadium @ Station Park on Saturday determined to get their William Hill League2 campaign up and running.
Both manager Ray McKinnon and skipper Stuart Morrison admit it has been a difficult week for the club following last Saturday’s dismal 3-0 defeat at home to Edinburgh City.
The manager has one perfectly simple message for all. ‘We simply need a much improved performance in all departments against another tough opponent.’
Ray also commented that he has emphasised in training this week how the squad have to be ready for the challenge ahead from the first minute of the contest and he is sure all will see a positive reaction on the park against Allan Hale’s side.
Stuart Morrison speaking to the Courier this week promised the fans that the players are one hundred per cent determined to make things right. He acknowledged that the players know that performances since the start of the league fixtures have not been good enough, but that they have worked hard in midweek to get the result against City out of their system and like the manager is confident that the players will fix it and go out and give it their very best shot on Saturday.
Disappointingly injury rules out midfielder Blair Malcolm for Elgin’s visit.
The Boroughbriggs outfit have made a more than promising start to their league campaign, gleaning seven points from three games played.
They brought in eight new faces in the summer including former Sky Blue Mark Gallagher from Cove Rangers who scored the only goal of the game in an impressive win at Stirling Albion a couple of weeks back.
One ‘Loon’ who will be particularly looking forward to the contest will be Mitch Taylor who moved to Station Park in June after a two year spell in Morayshire.
The man in the middle this weekend is Ryan Lee.
