William Hill League1 – Play-Off Semi Final 1st Leg
Forfar Athletic v Hamilton Accies
Tuesday 5th May
Alpha Projects Stadium @ Station Park
Kick-Off 7.45pm.
Following yesterday’s fixtures it is now confirmed that the ‘Loons’ will entertain Hamilton Accies on Tuesday evening in the first leg of the League1 Play-Off semi final.
Accies lost out in a hard fought encounter to League1 champions Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Highland Capital on Saturday afternoon, the Athies ending their league campaign in more relaxing mode with a 1-1 draw at Annan. Manager Jim Weir as anticipated made a host of changes to his starting line-up at Galabank, but there was one constant. Congratulations to Gus Mailer on his notable achievement, the midfielder having been an ever present in the startling line up in all 36 William Hill League2 fixtures since returning to his first senior club last summer.
Back to Tuesday night’s match and football these days works in mysterious and strange ways. A year ago with the ‘Loons’ fighting to retain their SPFL existence they benefited from a six point penalty that had been levied on their rivals Bonnyrigg Rose. Now a year later in much happier times for the club we head into a semi final clash against an Accies side who finished second bottom of League1, but would have in fact ended up in third place in the table had it not been for penalty points twenty-one in number accumulated throughout the season.
Nevertheless the Forfar Athletic management and players will approach the two legged tie in a positive manner on the back of a terrific six game unbeaten run and look forward to the continuance and superb backing of the home support on Tuesday night in the first instance.
‘Roll Up, Roll Up’ as the ringmaster used to say hopefully in large numbers and ‘C’mon the Loons’.
A full preview of the fixture will appear on FAFC social media channels on Monday.
