Of The Loons
Only seven weeks after the final game of the 25/6 campaign, the ‘Loons’ get the new season underway at Station Park on Saturday first when a very important fixture is due to take place.
Former Forfar Athletic favourite of the past Stewart Petrie will bring his Montrose side to the town to provide the opposition in Marc McCallum’s richly deserved testimonial fixture.
This will be the first and perhaps the most important event in a handful of ventures due to take place throughout the duration of Marc’s season long testimonial campaign.
The award of the testimonial year is a richly deserved accolade for Marc who signed for the ‘Loons’ in the summer of 2016, although he was on loan from Dundee United for a short spell during the 2011/12 season.
The local ‘boy’ has now made and amazing 355 appearances the Station Park club, having remarkably been an ever present in five of those nine seasons.
This Saturday’s fixture gives Athies fans a first opportunity to support Marc’s testimonial season.
Please note in the first instance that the match will have a 2p.m.kick-off.
Admission charges are as follows for both stand and terracing;-
Adults £15
Concessions £10
Under 12’s will be admitted free of charge if accompanied by a paying adult.
Cash turnstiles available on day.
Tickets however can be purchased in advance at Marc McCallum Testimonial – Forfar Athletic v Montrose @ TicketCo
This also gives supporters unable to make it to Station Park on Saturday an opportunity to make a donation to the testimonial ‘kitty.’
Obviously Forfar Athletic season tickets are not valid for this match.
An innovation these days. A match programme will be on sale at the fixture. Within its pages will be a full appraisal of Marc’s tenure with his hometown club.
50/50 tickets will be available on the day from the 1984 Lounge or the usual match day vendors.
The 1984 Lounge will be open from 11.30a.m. to 2p.m. and again on the final whistle for at least a couple of hours.
Marc himself will be in the lounge following the game to have a chat and thank the fans on the day for their support.
The game itself will be the first of four pre-season matches for Jim Weir and his side ahead of the opening Premier Sports Cup tie away to Stenhousemuir on July 11th.
The other three games are;-
Tuesday June 30th – St. Johnstone
Saturday July 4th – Banks O’ Dee
Tuesday July 7th – Peterhead
All three fixtures are to be staged at Station Park. The midweek games will have a 7.45p.m. kick-off while the fixture on July 4thwill commence at 2p.m.
Forfar Athletic season tickets will be valid for these three games and admission prices will be advised later in the current week.
